White paper xx · Workday

Workday Illuminate AI commercial scope.

Illuminate is Workday’s umbrella construct for the AI-driven capabilities being woven through HCM, Payroll, Financials, Adaptive Planning and the broader product family. Some capabilities sit inside the headcount-based subscription as included entitlement; others are premium, consumption-priced or sold as named-agent SKUs. The buyer-side question is which is which. This 20-page paper sets out the included-versus-premium boundary, the embedded-agent population, the consumption metric, the buyer-side commitment design and the renewal posture inside the Workday cycle. Buyer-side. Independent. Gated.

Illuminate is not one product.

The Illuminate brand sits across a family of distinct capability commitments inside the Workday product line. Some Illuminate capabilities are included inside the headcount-based subscription as enhancements to existing modules; others are sold as separate SKUs at separate prices; others are sold on a consumption basis tied to the activity volume the capability drives. The single-brand framing reads as a single decision; the procurement reality is a sequence of distinct decisions, each on its own commercial DNA.

The marketing is one brand. The contract is many SKUs. The buyer-side discipline is line-by-line.

The Admodum experience across Illuminate engagements is that the procurement question is not whether to "buy Illuminate" but which Illuminate capabilities belong inside the existing subscription as included entitlement, which belong inside a premium-AI uplift the buyer is paying for elsewhere on the AI stack, which belong inside a named-agent decision and which belong on the deferred-decision shortlist. The single-brand framing makes the sequencing of the four reads difficult; the four reads have to be done.

This paper sets out the eight-section Illuminate protocol Admodum applies inside the Workday commitment, sized against the included-versus-premium boundary, the consumption-metric forecast and the renewal posture across the headcount-based subscription cycle.
